PRODUCTION AND DISTRIBUTION OF PUNGGUR LANGSAT (LANSIUM DOMESTICUM) IN WEST KALIMANTAN, INDONESIA

With a light yellow rind, transparent flesh and sweet taste, Punggur langsat (Lansium domesticum) from the Regency of Kubu Raya has become a popular fruit in West Kalimantan province. Around 146,000 trees have been planted. With productivity approaching 70-80 kg per tree, in 2010, more than 7,250 tonnes were produced. There are two dominant market chains for Punggur langsat: from growers – collector agents - distributors – retailers - consumers in West Kalimantan; and from growers - collector agents - wholesalers - distributors - retailers - consumers in other markets. Prices at the farm gate vary from Rp 2,500 - 13,000/kg during the harvesting period from September to November.
