MIXED FARMING MODELS FOR ORGANIC CASHEW NUT

Mixed farming is the way to make our agriculture closer to the forest system wherein diverse landscape and ecosystem prevails. This paper elaborates why and how mixed farming in cashew nut should be propagated. Names of possible annual, biannual and perennial crops which are compatible with cashew nut are given. Appropriate spacing and layout of the compatible perennial crops are explained. It is advised that population of cashew nut should be about 30% and never more than 50%.
