The objective of this work was to evaluate red currant and white currant cultivars in relation to their suitability for table fruit production. There were observed 7 cultivars of red currant ('Detvan', 'Heinemann's Rote Spätlese', 'Jonkheer van Tets', 'Losan', 'Rovada', 'Rubigo', 'Tatran') and 5 cultivars of white currant ('Blanka', 'Jantar', 'Orion', 'Primus', 'Viktoria') in this work. Evaluated traits were flower set, fruit set, beginning of picking ripeness, fruit size, fruit firmness, fruit taste, weight of 100 fruits, soluble solids, and length of cluster. The highest fruit set was found in red currant cultivars 'Detvan' and 'Tatran', and white currant cultivars 'Primus' and 'Jantar'. The longest clusters were detected in red currants 'Tatran' and 'Detvan', and white currants 'Blanka' and 'Viktoria'. The biggest fruit size was found in red cultivars 'Tatran', 'Jonkheer van Tets' and 'Rovada', and white cultivars 'Viktoria', 'Jantar' and 'Blanka'. The taste of red currants was similar. 'Jantar' had the best taste from white currants.
