Postdoctoral Positions in Floriculture Biotechnology (Pretoria, South Africa)
The Department of Plant Production and Soil Science at the University of Pretoria has recently launched a Floriculture Biotechnology research program in collaboration with Sylvean Biotech. We currently have several postdoctoral positions available, at an annual remuneration package of South African Rand 175,000 (tax exempt).
The Floriculture Biotechnology research program aims to develop popular new varieties of the rose and other important ornamental plants, using genetic engineering. Research within the program will cover a wide range of topics at the cutting edge of plant biotechnology, including transgenics, RNAi, metabolic engineering and tissue culture.
A postdoctoral position within the Floriculture Biotechnology program will be a demanding as well as a stimulating experience. The program aims to do ground-breaking, patentable research and will also optimise publication output in leading journals. The program therefore offers significant career-advancement opportunities to the participating scientists.
The cut-off date for applications is Saturday, 8th March and we would prefer that the researchers could start as soon as possible.
Interested candidates are invited to send their applications to Prof Elsa du Toit at elsa.dutoit@up.ac.za.
