EMBRAPA and ISHS: sign a partnership agreement

The Brazilian Agricultural Research Corporation's mission is to provide feasible solutions for the sustainable development of Brazilian agribusiness through knowledge and technology generation and transfer.

Employees of selected institutions with which ISHS signed a partnership agreement might qualify for a special ISHS membership offer. Currently such framework agreement involving special ISHS membership options does exist with EMBRAPA. For more details EMBRAPA employees interested in ISHS membership should contact Dra. EMBRAPA and International Collaboration

In the area of international cooperation, the EMBRAPA holds 68 bilateral agreements for technical cooperation with 37 countries and 64 institutions, as well multilateral agreements with 20 international organizations, mainly involving the search in partnership. For this purpose, Embrapa installed high tech research laboratories in the United States and France, and this with support from the World Bank. These laboratories are located at the USDA, in Washington, and Agrópolis, at the University of Montpellier, France, allowing access for researchers to the highest technology in such areas as natural resources, biotechnology, IT etc. Recently, EMBRAPA also set up a laboratory in Wagneningen in the Netherlands.

Another highlight of action in the area is the international office of Embrapa Africa, based in Ghana, whith the main purpose of sharing scientific and technological knowledge for the whole continent, and thus contribute to sustainable development, social and economic, to food security and to combat hunger across the region. The activities are concentrated in the transfer of technology, emphasizing the specific demands of each country on projects for agricultural development. Moreover, EMBRAPA Africa develops actions of technical assistance and opportunities for training and development of human resources as well as the exploration of opportunities for Brazilian agribusiness.
