IN RECENT YEARS THE SUBJECTS OF NOMENCLATURE AND REGISTRATION HAVE BEEN THE SUBJECT OF DEBATE AND DISCUSSION DURING INTERNATIONAL SYMPOSIA DEVOTED TO CULTIVATED PLANT TAXONOMY.
FOUR SUCH SYMPOSIA HAVE SO FAR BEEN HELD, WITH
THE FIFTH BEING HELD IN
2007:
The First International Symposium on the Taxonomy of Cultivated Plants held at Wageningen, The Netherlands August 12-16, 1985. The Second International Symposium on the Taxonomy of Cultivated Plants held at the Center for Urban Horticulture, Washington Park Arboretum, University of Washington, Seattle, Washington State, USA August 10-14, 1994.

The Third International Symposium on the Taxonomy of Cultivated Plants held at the Pollock Halls, University of Edinburgh, Scotland July 20-26, 1998. Organized by the
Horticultural Taxonomy Group

The Fourth International Symposium was held as one
of the 23 symposia within XXVI International Horticultural Congress, Toronto,
Canada, August 11-17, 2002, where once again issues concerning registration and

It is being organised jointly by the Biosystematics Group/Botanical Gardens of Wageningen University (The Netherlands) and the Horticultural Taxonomy Group (UK) in collaboration with ISHS.
