Extension Viticulture Specialist/Assistant Professor

The Department of Extension Plant Sciences at New Mexico State University is seeking to fill an Extension Viticulture Specialist/Assistant Professor position. (75% Extension/25% Research).

This is a tenure track, 12 month position. Ph.D. (in hand by hire date) in Viticulture Enology, Pomology, Plant Science, Plant Biology, Horticulture, Food Science and Technology or related field. Must be knowledgeable in viticulture, additional knowledge of soils, water management, plant fertility, plant physiology, identifying grape vine disorders, and pest management. Basic enology experience and three to five years of experience in wine grape production are preferred.

The successful candidate will develop an aggressive and progressive state-wide Extension education program in viticulture and/or enology that provides training and assistance to County Agents, and commercial and hobby growers in areas such as but not limited to, variety selection, production practices, irrigation technology, and pest management.
