The Department of Agriculture at the Faculty of Agricultural and Food Sciences at the American University of Beirut (AUB) invites outstanding candidates to apply for the full-time faculty position in Horticulture at the level of Assistant Professor or higher. The starting date of the appointment is December 15, 2017. The position is a full-time, nine-month, non-tenure-track position. Appointments are for an initial period of four years.


  • Applicants should possess a Ph.D. in Horticulture or related field with demonstrable expertise in sustainable horticulture systems and organic horticulture systems and practices in the production of fruit, vegetable and nursery crops and a record of successful teaching and research.
  • Demonstrated experiences in tissue culture plant production and in in-vitro crop production improvement techniques is an advantage.


  • Teaching and conducting research in production horticulture in Mediterranean climate regions.
  • The incumbent will work as part of an inter-disciplinary team to improve horticultural production practices in Lebanon and to train both undergraduate and graduate MS students using facilities at AUB main campus as well as at the Faculty's Advancing Research and Enabling Communities (AREC).
