The Massey AgriFood Technology Partnership is committed to supporting New Zealand's export-driven growth base by extending biological systems knowledge with applications of emerging technologies, data analytics and robotics. Our expertise covers agriculture, horticulture and a wide range of emerging engineering and data disciplines. We are looking to add a Senior Research Officer to our team in Palmerston North. The position is for a full time permanent position.
Key accountabilities include: delivering specific outcomes and project milestones around the development and applications for postharvest technologies to fresh produce problems, efficiently respond to enquiries from prospective clients, staff and stakeholders, supervise and support undergraduate and postgraduate students and staff in their research, assist in the delivery of project outcomes.
Requirements for the role include, being available to take part in field work, hold a PhD with a focus on applied postharvest technology or physiology.
The successful applicant will have technical experience in postharvest quality assessment for fruit or vegetables, design and execution of experimental work in industrial environments and gas atmosphere manipulation experiments, have sound technical knowledge on postharvest biology of fresh products and a good understanding of the needs of domestic and export-orientated fresh produce industries. Have publications in respected peer-reviewed journals, have experience in working in multi-disciplinary, multi-cultural teams and experience in developing and maintaining relationships with external clients.
