PRELIMINARY STUDY ON DIFFERENT ROOTSTOCK-SCION COMBINATIONS IN 'SHUANGJIANYUHEBAO' LITCHI
Fifteen-year-old Shuangjianyuhebao litchi trees were grafted as rootstock to determine the effects on rootstock-scion combination of 28 different scion cultivars.
The results indicated that the graft survival percentage and vegetative growth were greatly improved in the cultivars Jingganghongnuo, Maguili, Lingshanxiangli and Feizixiao, of which both Maguili and Lingshanxiangli showed improvement in flowering and fruit set.
Early maturing selections D13, D11, 9919, 99112 and 9918 grew well, but flowering and fruit set were very poor.
Some litchi cultivars showed significant incompatibility, such as Qinzhouhongli, Nuomici, Guiwei, Sanyuehong, Guinuo and Hongmili.
