'GRANDA ROSA' - NEW POLISH STRAWBERRY CULTIVAR

E. Żurawicz, A. Masny
‘Granda Rosa’ is a new strawberry cultivar bred at the Research Institute of Horticulture, Skierniewice, Poland. It originates from a cross between ‘Granda’ and ‘Camarosa’. In 2010 the cultivar was submitted to the Polish National Lists of Fruit Plant Varieties and it is protected by the Polish PBR. ‘Granda Rosa’ is a short-day strawberry cultivar, it ripens a couple days later than ‘Honeoye’. The commercial productivity of ‘Granda Rosa’ in the field is similar to ‘Honeoye’ and higher than ‘Elsanta’, which is commonly grown in Poland. Its fruits are larger and firmer and more attractive than the fruits of ‘Honeoye’ or ‘Elsanta’. The plants are less susceptible to Verticillium wilt than the plants of ‘Honeoye’ and ‘Elsanta’.
