SELECTION OF PRUNUS CERASIFERA VAR. MYROBALAN LOIS AS ROOTSTOCKS FOR PLUM AND PRUNE
These investigations are of interest since that is about of Pr.Myrobolan as rootstocks for plums and prunes exist contradictory opinions. KOYDL (22) stated that seedlings of Pr.Myrobolan was recommended as rootstocks for plums and prunes in Yugoslavia at the beginning of the XX century. Meanwhile, in planted plum and prune orchards the seedlings of Pr.Myrobolan have not given everywhere good results. There is some thoughts that Pozegaca on seedlings of Pr.Myrobolan has very vigorous trees, late coming into bearing and poor yields. That's fact, since so far, had no paid attention on this kind of plum, in which exist a very great and different generative population, but all of them are not good as rootstocks for plum and prune, particularly for Pozegaca. Pr.Myrobolan used as rootstocks by the nurseries are usually unknown and differ morphologically and physiologically so that the budded Pozegaca shows no uniform growth, bearing, fruit size or others (13,25,26,27,28,31).
Inside of the selection of Pr.Myrobolan for rootstocks for plums and prunes has been done, but not much (15,34,9,20, 39,35,19,4,41,21,36,10,11,3,27,28,29,30) and much more were
