Effect of gibberellic acid and forchlorfenuron
(N-(2-chloro-4-pyridyl)-N'-phenylurea) on growth and quality of 'Marroo Seedless' grape

Effects of two plant bioregulators (PBR), which are gibberellic acid (GA3) and N-(2-chloro-4-pyridyl)-N'-phenylurea (CPPU) on the growth and quality of 'Marroo Seedless' grape were investigated from 29 October 2012 to 6 January 2013 at Pakchong Research Station, Pak Chong district, Nakhon Ratchasima province. Spraying inflorescences with 2.5 mg GA3 L-1 7 d before blooming gave the highest values of berry weight (88.73 g), berry length (2.07 cm), average berry size (1.95 cm) and the total soluble solids (TSS) to the total acidity percentage (TA) ratio (16.09 °Brix %-1). But the treatment did not significantly affect cluster weight, berry width, TSS and TA values. Spraying clusters with 50 mg GA3 L-1 7 d after blooming gave the highest values of berry weight (87.51 g), whereas the same treatment did not maximize the cluster weight, berry size, TSS, TA percentage and TSS/TA ratio. Spraying clusters with 20 mg CPPU L-1 7 d after blooming gave highly significant differences in cluster weight (474.59 g), and the number of berries per cluster (286.56 berries per cluster). Spraying clusters with 10 mg CPPU L-1 7 d after blooming gave highly significant differences of berry weight (2.74 g) and berry size (1.60 cm). Spraying clusters with 5 mg CPPU L-1 7 d after blooming gave the highest values of TSS (13.86 °Brix) and TA (1.02%). In grape juice of the inflorescences and clusters were not sprayed with GA3 and CPPU showed the highest TSS/TA ratio (16.90 °Brix %-1).
