In this study, different cuttings types of 'Niagara Branca' and 'Niagara Rosada' and the influence on rooting were investigated. The cultivars Niagara Branca (NB) and Niagara Rosada (NR) were used, each branch divided into three parts that originated the cuttings (approximately 20 cm and 3 frank gems) of the basal third (B-basal), mid (M-middle) and upper third (A-apical). The cuttings were evaluated after 72 days: percentage of live cuttings, percentage of dead cuttings, as well as percentages for rooted and sprouted ones. The experiment design was completely randomized in a 2×3 factorial arrangement (two cultivars and three cutting types), with five replicates of 18 cuttings each. For the studied period, the numbers of rooted, dead and living cuttings did not change between the treatments. Among the different types of cuttings, cuttings of B and A were higher than the stakes of the M to NB cultivar already to NR cultivar basal third of the stakes were higher and median apical cuttings. The interaction between cultivars was not significant for the number of shoots of different poles of the basal third and significant stakes for the middle and upper third being the highest number of shoots NB cultivar and NR cultivar, respectively. We concluded that there was no significant difference in rooting or survival due to origin of cultivar or cutting, although when it comes to sprouting, the cuttings originated from the median and basal third had better numbers, regardless of chosen cultivar.
