'Canetova' is a new sweet cherry cultivar released at the Faculty of Agriculture, University of Belgrade. It was selected as a spontaneous seedling and recognized in 2014 by the Serbian Ministry of Agriculture and Environmental Protection. Comparisons with the standard cultivar 'Bigarreau Jaboulay' were done during two consecutive years (2013-2014). It bloomed 3-4 days after the control cultivar. Method of fluorescent microscopy proved that this is a self-incompatible cultivar. The maturing time was 3-4 days after 'Bigarreau Jaboulay'. The productivity was little lower, but the fruit weight is much higher in 'Canetova' (8.75 g) compared with 'Bigarreau Jaboulay' (6.75 g). The taste is sweet, higher value of soluble solid/total acidity ratio (23.31) compared to the standard cultivar (18.89). Aroma is very pleasant. It showed resistance to economically important diseases (Monilinia laxa and Monilinia fructigena, Blumeriella jaappi and Wilsonomyces carpophilus) and low teperatures, like standard cultivar. Regarding early ripening time, large fruit and pleasant taste, this cultivar started spreading in Belgrade's surrounding.
