A new strawberry cultivar 'Shimei 8'
'Shimei 8' is a June-bearing cultivar.
The fruit is conical, bright red and shiny with sepals that were comparatively easy to remove.
The average first grade fruit weight is 42.7 g and secondary grade fruit weight is 23.6 g.
Fruit flesh is orange red, dense and flesh is delicate, fragrant sweet and sour with an average soluble solids content of 10.3%. Fruits are firm, 0.55 kg cm-2, and have good shipping quality.
The average total yield plant-1 is up to 444.5 g.
It is suitable for open cultivation and semi-forcing culture and fruits are suitable for fresh and processing (fruit juice, jam) markets in China.
