DESIGN OF BOILER INSTALLATIONS FOR INCREASED EFFICIENCY AND ALTERNATIVE FUELS

G.F. Sheard
Efficiency of boiler operation can be increased by the use of modular boilers and by the fitting of automatic flue dampers and in the case of gas-fired boilers by the fitting of flue gas condensers. In the United Kingdom coal is an economic alternative to oil and gas as a boiler fuel. Equipment available and current developments are discussed. Other alternative fuels are reviewed.
