The study of duku (Lansium domesticum) quality during storage in a flexible plastic bag
'Palembang' duku (Lansium domesticum 'Komering'), the prime fruit of South Sumatra, is an exotic tropical and non-climacteric fruit which is highly perishable after harvest. Duku Palembang is famous for its sweet taste and specific flavor. It has a short shelf life (approximately 3 days) at ambient temperature due to the browning reaction of the skin which is followed by the deterioration of the skin and flesh. As a tropical fruit, duku cannot be stored at a relatively low temperature. The objective of this research was to explore the possibility of using a semi-flexible packaging for duku which resembles a modified atmosphere packaging and to explore the physico-chemical changes such as the texture, color, sugars and acid content. The research showed that duku quality could be maintained up to four times compared to the regular packing method.
