Variations in some traits affecting yield in different hazelnut cultivars
This study was carried out on Tombul, Palaz, Kuş, Sivri and Karafındık hazelnut cultivars grown in Ordu province, Turkey in 2008-2009. Eight pomological traits (small nuts, blank nuts, poor filled nuts, shriveled kernels, double kernels, good kernels, percent kernel, yield) and seven yield properties (average number of buds, No. of catkins, No. of pollen grains per catkin, No. of pistillate inflorescences, No. of pollinated pistillate inflorescences, No. of husks in June, No. of harvested husks) were determined in each cultivar. Variance analysis revealed significant differences among cultivars for all investigated yield components except for number of buds. Results showed a positive correlation on pomological traits between blanks, doubles, kernel percent and yield.
