Folding photovoltaic shading screen

A. Janet, J. Cazauvieilh
Many studies have been done showing the impact of conventional solar panels on greenhouse tops. Results show that the loss in luminosity in a greenhouse can be up to 64%, compared to a greenhouse without solar panels. The resulting decrease in crop-yield can be significant. To increase efficiency, solar panels should be mobile. In fact, various techniques are already in use in greenhouses, such as white liquid shade on the roof top or mobile sunscreens. These techniques can be duplicated by flexible solar panels/thin films which are programmed to deploy automatically, based on measured sunlight at any given time.
