N. Christov, D. Serbezova, A. Stoeva
In the present article, a brief pomological introduction of some old local Bulgarian sweet cherry cultivars was made, suitable for home fruit growing or to be included in future breeding programs as donors of valuable characteristics and properties. These are ‘Ranna cherna edra’, ‘11 May’, ‘Ryzhdavichka belvitsa’, ‘Peresta belvitsa’ and ‘Rumynka’, characterized by different size, shape, color of the skin and fruit flesh, taste, flowering and ripening period and various resistance to diseases. Fruits of ‘Ryzhdavichka belvitsa’ and ‘Peresta belvitsa’ are preferred for processing in jams, preserves and compotes.
