Effects of different types of paper bags on 'Golden Delicious' apple fruits
This article presents the results of a study carried out to determine the effect of pre-harvest bagging on growth and fruit quality of apple cultivar 'Golden Delicious' under Uzbekistan conditions.
Two fruit bagging treatments with different light transmission ratios were used: 1) inside yellow - outside gray paper bags (YGB), and 2) outside newspaper - inside yellow paper bags (NYPB). Non-bagged fruits were used as the control for comparison.
The differences in fruit weight of 'Golden Delicious' apple fruits covered with different type of paper bags revealed that all covered fruits were slightly smaller in size than the control.
Results showed that pre-harvest apple bagging affected especially the quality of the skin and slightly decreased fruit weight and size in comparison with control.
