Comparison of tall spindle axes and vogel central leader systems in cherry
The study was carried out to compare tall spindle axes and vogel central leader systems on sweet cherry combinations of 0900 Ziraat/Gisela 5 and 0900 Ziraat/MM 60 in Samsun in Turkey during 2015-2017 growing periods.
Nursery plants of sweet cherry cultivars planted by tall spindle axes (TSA) and vogel central leader systems in February 2010. In the study, the morphological characteristics of the trees such as tree length, diameter, length of crown, tree volume and some pomological characteristics such as; fruit weight, total soluble solid content and yield were determined.
The best results were obtained from TSA applied trees for the yield (0900 Ziraat/Gisela 5) and fruit weight (0900 Ziraat/MM60). Tree length and volume were higher in 0900 Ziraat/M×M60 combination in TSA planting system.
