Successes in distant hybridization of cereals
The article provides an overview of the state, achievements, and prospects of using the modern collection of perennial and growing wheat-wheatgrass hybrids (2n=56). The superiority was shown of new forms on biological and economically valuable indicators in comparison with the hybrids obtained during N.V. Tsitsin's research.
Stable genotypes with good indicators of the degree of overwintering during 2-3 years were selected.
Promising forms on such qualities as grain yield with high protein content, good baking qualities, yield of green mass for a few mowings, and high diseases and pests resistance were identified.
The article presents data on the biodiversity of the new species Triticum agropyrotriticum Cicin botanical cultivars, the results of the studying gliadin polymorphism, and genomic hybridization in situ.
