Correlation analysis between plant phenotype and fruit soluble sugar content of different strawberry cultivars
Brix is one of the most important indexes to evaluate the quality of strawberry fruit, which affects the edible value and commodity value of strawberry.
In this research, plant phenotype and fruit soluble sugar of 16 strawberry cultivars were analyzed, originating from Japan, Europe and America.
And the phenotype parameters include plant height, leaves number, area and chlorophyll content and weight of fruits.
The analysis of strawberries sugar content links between these characters, reveal the correlation between strawberry leaves and fruit, in other words, the sugar content of different strawberry cultivars is positively correlated with their source intensity.
Besides, for the same genotype, the ratio of sink and source determines the yield and the Brix of fruit.
Under the same conditions, when the leaf area is fixed, the higher the fruit yield, the lower the sugar content.
