Research on the influence of temperature on the strawberry blossom weevil - Anthonomus rubi (Herbst)

L.B. Neagu Frăsin
The strawberry blossom weevil - Anthonomus rubi Herbst - is widespread in Europe and Asia. In Romania the pest is found in all areas of strawberry culture. The knowledge of the development rates is necessary regarding the elaboration of the theoretical bases for the biological cycle scheme and the establishment of the spreading area, the period of biological activity and the ecological characteristics of this species. Following the research carried out in the entomology laboratory of the Faculty of Environmental Engineering and Food Science at the Valahia University of Târgoviște, the thermal limits for the intervals and subintervals of the biological activity of Anthonomus rubi Herbst are: up to 5.89°C and over 32.71°C - the lethal interval; from 5.89 to 32.71°C - the biological interval; between 5.89 and 11.07°C - the cold subinterval; between 11.07 and 29.93°C - the temperate subinterval; between 29.93 and 32.71°C - the warm subinterval.
