Some features of the development of male generative sphere of Pinus sabiniana Douglas on the southern coast of the Crimea
Digger pine (Pinus sabiniana Douglas) is an endemic species of Californian flora. It has been under cultivation in the Crimea since 1832. Digger pine occurs in the park groves of the lower belt of the southern coast of the Crimea (SCC). The development features of introduced plant reproduction processes are classified as the most informative attributes of their successful acclimatization. The development phenology and arboreal pollen quality for genus Pinus L. representatives are the most important characteristics of plants' state, their biological potential and response level for environmental factors' dynamics. The use of standard reproductive biological and biotechnological means allowed to gather the information about the state of P. sabiniana male generative sphere during introduction in the SCC. It was defined that in 2017-2018 P. sabiniana pollination time scales had essential differences: while going through unit phenological phases it had a time-shifting of 15 days and the difference in the sum of active temperatures above 5°C was 48.5°C. Pollen dispersion duration varies from 16 to 19 days and depends on the temperature regime, wind speed and depth of precipitation during the period of pollination. The pollen grains' morphological analysis showed that in 2018, the quantity of development anomalies was 3.1 times larger than in 2017. Pollen viability decreased by 15.2% in 2018. A head start of vegetation under the conditions of the SCC adversely affects the P. sabiniana male generative sphere. Huge daily average temperature oscillations with the difference more than 8°C during microsporogenesis cause increases in the number of abnormal pollen grains and altogether reduce the quality of produced pollen.
