Fruit quality parameters of eight blueberry cultivars in Kosovo
This field experiment was designed to assess the quality of blueberry fruits through some parameters in eight different cultivars: Duke, Spartan, Draper, Blue gold, Huron, Star, Liberty and Aurora. The experiment was conducted during 2020 using a nested experimental design on a blueberry orchard of 25 ha, in the 6th year of production.
Quality parameters investigated in Dukagjini region (Kosovo) were average weight of fruits, diameter, height, no. of seeds.
The survey was carried out in four repetitions, where the results were statistically processed by ANOVA test.
The nested experimental design included for each cultivar 10 blueberry bushes, and for each cultivar 300 fruits.
Based on two-way analysis of variance, we found significant changes in all fruit quality parameters.
The results showed that, the larger diameter of fruit, was reached on average in the Duke cultivar (18.74 mm), while Blue Gold showed the highest values of the height (13.79 mm) whereas, the highest average weight of fruits was shown for Duke (2.30 g), the highest values of number of seeds per fruit was showed in Star (58).
