With the rapid development of modern biotechnology in the field of plant breeding, traditional breeding methods seem to be forgotten. Here we report the breeding process and the main traits of a new raspberry cultivar ‘Selina’, released from Shenyang Agricultural University (SYAU) and developed using a mixed-seed selection method. It is early ripening, and the fruit can be harvested in two seasons. The primocanes of ‘Selina’, flower and bear fruit in the autumn, while the floricane produce fruit in the summer. Compared with summer-bearing cultivars, the average single berry weight is 87% higher than ‘Nova’, and the harvesting time is 7 days earlier than ‘Tulameen’. Compared with autumn-bearing cultivars, the plant height of ‘Selina’ is 45% higher than ‘Polka’, and the number of natural suckering is 16% of ‘Heritage’. What is more, ‘Selina’ has large foliage, thick stems, high-quality fruit, and few thorns.
