EXPERIENCES WITH RIPENING TESTS FOR APPLES

J. Streif
Criteria of morphological development and ripening of apple fruits were investigated. From all proved criteria a so called ripening and quality index was calculated. This index is suitable for description of the influences of different annual temperature and site conditiones on the maturity and ripening of apples. The achieved data were examined on regard to their possible correlations. Colour measurement with a tristimulus colorimeter, starch iodine test and measurement of calyx width gave the best correlations to the ripening and quality index of all proved criteria.
