SOME ASPECTS OF TOMATO PRODUCTION IN THE BRITISH ISLES

J.A.H. Nicholson
The first part of this paper attempts to summarize the most important features of the glasshouse tomato industry in the British Isles, to indicate current trends and problems, and to pose relevant questions about the industry. Some answer to these questions is offered subsequently. For this purpose, the British Isles are defined as Britain (England, Wales and Scotland), together with Guernsey and Jersey. Little information and no first-hand knowledge can be quoted about Eire and Northern Ireland.
