In a commercial pineapple (Ananas comosus ‘MD-2’) farm, the effect of Coragen® was evaluated on Sufetula anania control. The treatments evaluated were: the mixture of Starex® 48SC (Carbaryl-Agri Center) 4 L ha‑1 + Rimon® 10EC (Novaluron-ADAMA) at 1.5 L ha‑1 in 4000 L of water solution ha‑1, Coragen® 20SC (Rynaxypyr-FMC) 120 mL ha‑1 in 3000 L of water solution ha‑1, both applied with spray boom, 125 days after planting, and the untreated control. Experimental plots were distributed in a randomized complete block design with three treatments and eight replicates. At pre-application of the treatments, the incidence of S. anania varied between 30% and 50% (P<0.0001) and the population (P=0.0001) between 0.3 and 0.8 larvae per plant. In the plants treated with Coragen®, the pre-application incidence of 50% decreased (P<0.0001) to 0% at 7, 14 and 21 days after application and then rose to 10% at 28 days, while in the untreated plants (P<0.0001) and the commercial treatment (P=0.0178) the incidence of the pest increased. The number of S. anania per plant at pre-application of Coragen® of 0.7 larvae per plant decreased (P<0.0001) to 0.0 at 7, 14, and 21-days post application and then showed a slight increase to 0.10 larvae per plant at 28 days. When comparing the effect of treatments up to 21 days (means of 7,14- and 21-days post application) or 28 days (means of 7, 14, 21 and 28 days post application), only Coragen® reduced (P<0.0001) the incidence and the population of S. anania per plant to 0% and 0.0 larvae per plant up to 21 days, and to 2.5% and 0.03 larvae per plant at 28 days, respectively. The results showed that Coragen® was very effective in the control of S. anania in pineapples with a control period of 21 days.
