DEVELOPMENT OF ENERGY SAVING GREENHOUSE CONCEPTIONS

G. Weimann
At the department of Horticulture of the University of Hannover there is a large research project, subdivided in sixteen subprojects, investigating energy- and laboursaving technologies with regard to the horticultural production process.

One of those has to develop energy saving greenhouse conceptions.

Questions of research are:

  • to investigate the theoretically aspects of optimizing the construction, lighttransmissivity and minimizing the heat-consumption,
  • to investigate the real climatology conditions in such new greenhouses,
  • to build up a submodel with regard to the ascertained datas for integrating the perceptions into the main research projekt.

The ascertained catalogue of principles of design enables to develop alternatives of energy saving greenhouse conceptions. Two alternatives are now under the experimental process. The alternative 1 is a new type of film-greenhouse in West-Germany, here adapted to the principles of design (the roof slope is higher than 24° and there is usually no roof-ventilation area). This greenhouse was built in summer 1982. The alternative 2 is a new developed greenhouse and still under construction. First meassurements will be done in winter 1983–1984.
