CLIMATE AND FIREBLIGHT IN THE GARONNE VALLEY (1977–1982)

H. BOUE
The Garonne Valley is a very important Pear and Apple growing area, where fireblight has been found for the first time in August 1978.

The extension and severity of the disease in the area is described year by year, and compared with the evaluation of potential activity of fireblight assessed according to diagrams of Billing's system 1 (Billing 1980). The general trends given by this system usually fit with the actual disease activity in the area during blossom period. Secondary blossoms play a very important role in summer.
