CONDITIONS INFLUENCING THE PRICING OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES

F. Alvisi
The agricultural and marketing system that handles fruit and vegetables is remarkably complex, owing to the variety of forms that agricultural production takes, to the variation in the range of services demanded of wholesalers, and to all the price-article-service alternatives supplied by the retailers. In every case, however, the decisive role in pegging the prices is played by final demand. This economic mechanism operates in an apposite way to the physical mechanism of distribution.
