RESULTS ON BREEDING NEW VERY EARLY AND EARLY RIPENING PEACH AND NECTARINE VARIETIES
Starting 1971 at Fruit Research Institute Pitesti-Maracineni a peach and nectarine breeding program was initiated in collaboration with Rutgers University, USA.
The new nectarine varieties, recently named as Romaner 1 and Romaner 2 meet the major objectives of the breeding program: earliness; yellow ferm high quality flesh; high productivity and good resistance to diseases.
