INFLUENCE OF SOME HORTICULTURAL FACTORS ON THE INCIDENCE OF PEACH CANKER DUE TO "FUSICOCCUM AMYGDALI 011."
The bark peach canker, in Italy, is one of the main cause of the quick decline of the economical life of the modern intensive peach orchards.
The cause of this canker have been ascribed to many different pathogenous like Cytospora leucostoma, Cytospora cincta, Valsa leucostoma, Pseudomonas persicae, Pseudomonas syringae, Fusicoccum amygdali.
Recently has been demonstrated that in South of Italy the canker is caused only by Fusicoccum.
In this paper we refer on some agronomical causes that promote the arise and the diffusion of this fungus disease.
High nitrogen and irrigation water quantities improved significantly the disease.
A positive correlation between a minor lignification of the tissues and a higher Fusicoccum amygdali incidence has been also found.
