THE NEW ECONOMIC SYSTEM OF SOCIALIST SCIENTIFIC ORGANIZATION OF PRODUCTION AND MORE PARTICULARLY THE UTILIZATION OF CONTEMPORARY ELEMENTS AND MEANS OF MANAGEMENT
The investigation of the structure of expenditures in the most intensive hothouse growing of vegetables, more particularly of cucumbers, reflect the above mentioned application of materials. Other studies of the costs of greenhouse grown vegetables, utilizing a wide range of materials from a great number of greenhouses (n=106) and applying mathematical and statistical methods, as well as detailed correlations, regressive and trend analyses, showed that the most important problem of greenhouse vegetable growing farms is the rational organization of the production processes. With the erection of large area greenhouses the share of public labour productivity increased considerably (satiation with funds = from 200 to 400 thousand marks per labourer). The out-of-date forms of labour organization created serious impediments, which could be overcome only through the application of the system of socialist organization of production and its greatest mainstay, the economic calculation.
An investigation of 500 Berlin households revealed greater increase in the expenditure for vegetables, as compared to the consumption of vegetables itself due to the fact that they had started the consumption of more valuable vegetable types and higher degrees of technological processing. The centre of gravity was focused on the expenditures during the first three months of the year. This increased consumption was based on the respective increase in incomes. Therefore, in organizing the production of vegetables, the greatest attention should be directed towards achieving a higher degree of efficiency in hothouse vegetable yields during the first quarter of the year.
The contemporary socialist greenhouse farms are specialized production units of a high concentration of production and of means of production. They represent complex productional and organizational systems, which have the character of independent specialized enterprises within the framework of a production and marketing chain (vertical cooperation). At the same time they are also manifold "interwoven horizontally",
