CALLUS INDUCTION AND A PRELIMINARY ATTEMPT TO OBTAIN CELL SUSPENSIONS FROM EMBRYOS AND LEAVES OF JUGLANS REGIA L.

Addition of 2,4-D (1 mg/1) or NAA (2 mg/1) or IBA (2 mg/1) plus Kn (0,3 mg/1) induced callus formation in mature embryos of walnut (Juglans regia L.). Homogeneous cell suspensions were obtained from callus induced by 2,4-D, however, those induced by NAA or IBA produced heterogeneous cell populations.

The addition of 2,4-D induced callus formation in leaves from adult material of the same species. Leaf calli establishment was carried out with 2,4-D (1 mg/1) and BAP (0.1 mg/1). Cell suspensions obtained from these calli were apparently similar to embryo calli induced by 2,4-D.
