VARIATIONS OF THE TOLERANCE LEVEL OF CARNATION CULTIVARS AGAINST FUSARIUM OXYSPORUM DIANTHI DEPENDING ON THE SUBSTRATE

R. Tramier, A. Antonini, A. Bettachini
The cultivars Pallas and Elsy are known for their high tolerance to F.o. dianthi race 2, in commercial glasshouses. But in soilless culture on perlite inoculated with race 2, the behaviour of Elsy is similar to the susceptible cv. Nora, even at a low level of inoculum. In the same conditions the tolerance of Pallas decreases as the rate of inoculum increases.

Among the tolerant cultivars in infested soils the tests in perlite distinguishes two groups: one with variations of resistance according to the inoculum level: Pallas, Antares, Virginie, Sarah; the other one in which the tolerance does not depend on this level: Amapola, Coralie, Diano, Clair Avril.
