CLASSIFICATION OF CARNATION CULTIVARS ACCORDING TO THEIR RESPONSE TO LONG DAY TREATMENT UNDER CONTROLLED LOW LIGHT CONDITIONS
At the Institute for Horticultural Plant Breeding a breeding programme for low light requirement was started, in order to develop carnation genotypes for all year round production under Northern European conditions.
In a growth room (100 m2) growth and flowering of 81 carnation genotypes (cultivars and selections) were studied under low light intensity.
The plants were short day (SD) or long day (LD) treated.
