POSSIBILITIES FOR WORLD DISTRIBUTION OF BULGARIAN TYPE CARNATION CULTIVARS

A.D. Boikov
The development of the Bulgarian carnation type contributes to the world's commercial breeding work in improving the decorative and commercial characters of the species Dianthus caryophyllus. A high degree of resistance to Fusarium wilt and tolerance to virus diseases has been attained. The species assortment has been enriched by new races: supercarnations, branching carnations and caryactuses - dwarf pot carnations.

The achievements ensure possibilities for wide distribution of Bulgarian carnation cultivars in world floriculture.
