VEGETATIVE AND GENERATIVE DEVELOPMENT OF PICKLING CUCUMBERS INFLUENCED BY WEATHER CONDITIONS

M. Cerne
Pickling cucumbers developed from sowing till the beginning of harvest in 72 days, the limiting factor for earlier picking is low air temperature. The duration of harvest is 66 days. The important factors for prolonging harvest are the air and soil temperature, precipitation and radiation.

Number of plants, number and weight of fruits, number of vines, main roots, leaves, length of plants are influenced by the sum of soil temperature and radiation.

Vegetative and generative development of cucumbers are positively correlated with the daily soil and air temperature. The dependence of values for parameters of vegetative and generative development can be predicted by variing values for weather conditions and by using partial regression coefficient.
