THE EFFECT OF SLOW RELEASE FERTILIZERS ON THE YIELD AND FRUIT QUALITY OF VEGETABLE CROPS GROWING IN THE MEDITERRANEAN AREA OF TURKEY

O. Gezerel, F. Dönmez
In the experiments described in this paper, commercial fertilizers and slow-release fertilizers (Plantacote, Plantason and Azalon) were applied to tomato and melon in varying concentrations.

When the commercial and slow-release fertilizers were compared from the point of view of crop-yield and quality, Plantacote and Plantason were found to have significantly increased the yields of both crops. At the same time the effects of urea and Azalon (38% N) on the yields of sugar melon were examined, and it appeared that Azalon significantly increased melon yield.
