FARM MANAGEMENT ADVISORY SYSTEM FOR HORTICULTURE

P.C.M. VERMEULEN, M.N.A. RUIJS, J. BENNINGA
At the end of the 1970s, a management advisory system for individual horticultural holdings has been developed at the Glasshouse Crops Research Stations (PTG + PBN) and the State Advisory Service. This manual system contains several forms. Some forms to describe the present situation, and several forms to budget:
  • the gross margin per m2 of single crops,
  • the gross margin of the complete holding with all the planned crops,
  • the annual income.

These calculations can be made both of the present situation and of alternative plans. In this way the State Advisory Service can make a report of the economic consequences of changes in the cropping plan, the equipment or the cultivation methods. In recent years an increasing number of reports has been made.
