TRAINING SYSTEMS FOR VARIETIES OF NASHI PEARS

J.E. Campbell
Nashi pear fruit can be damaged by wind and branches can be rather brittle, so for high yields and good quality some kind of trellis system is necessary. Six varieties, Nijisseiki, Shinsui, Chojuro, Kosui, Tsu Li and Ya Li are being grown trained as central leader, Lincoln canopy, M.I.A. trellis, Tatura trellis and palmette.
