TRIALS ON TRAINING SYSTEMS FOR GREENHOUSE CULTIVATED PEACH TREES
Three different training systems - "Y", modified meadow orchard ("MMO") and low central axis ("LCA") - were tested on micropropagated plants of "Maravilha" peach variety.
The number of trees per hectare ranged from 1984 in the "Y" to 2976 in the "MMO" and "LCA" systems. The trees were grown in a greenhouse of polyethilene film (0.20 thick), located in the southern coastal plain of Sicily (37. 30' N).
In "MMO" plants the production was sharply lower than in "Y" and "LCA".
Compared to the "Y", blooming and ripening time in the other two training systems were delayed and fruit characteristics were worse.
