EXPERIMENTAL VALIDATION, FOR AN AIR-SUPPORTED STRUCTURE, OF A HIGH-LEVEL SIMULATION MODEL, FOR GREENHOUSE THERMAL ENVIRONMENTS

A mathematical simulation model for predicting the thermal environment inside a greenhouse is discussed and its computer-based implementation outlined. Experimental validation of the computer algorithm for an air-supported polyethylene greenhouse showed that the simulation can predict diurnal temperature profiles and, therefore, heat loads for this type of greenhouse. Thus it could be used, with care, to predict conditions in other, similar types of greenhouse.
