TIMING OF SNAPDRAGON (ANTIRRHINUM MAJUS L.) IN COLD GREENHOUSE CULTIVATION.

The results of experiments on the main factors which can influence timing and quality of snapdragon production in cold greenhouse conditions are presented.

These factors were: sowing period, variety, pinching.

In relation to the sowing dates - from November to April - the time required to reach harvesting decreased from 160 to 90 days; the height of the stem also diminished considerably.

The varieties showed a different response to the conditions of late autumn sowing.

Pinching, studied in 6 varieties, determined an increase in production, a reduction in the stem length and in the number of flowers per spike, and delayed flowering by about 3 weeks.
