THE MARKETING OF VEGETABLES IN FIJI
Farmers throughout Fiji engage in vegetable production for their consumption and to supply the various markets. Production is largely centred around single family units mainly to supply local markets in urban areas, processors, hotels and exporters. Most farmers market their own vegetables at the retail level while a number of middle-man, retailers and exporters are also involved. Very little attention has been paid to proper packaging and handling of the highly perishable vegetables, except those destined for export markets.
